Stability Ball exercises are the same as common exercise ball exercises. The ball is made using soft elastic plastics and the diameter varies from 34 to 84 cms. The ball is usually inflated and there is a valve which can be used to deflate it when not in use. The primary usage of these balls in the training of athletes, persons with injury, exercise for the old and young. The ball is sometimes known as Swiss ball and other names exist for this ball.
The other names of this ball include Swedish ball, therapy ball, fitness ball etc. The ball differs considerably from the medicinal ball in that it is larger and much lighter than the medicinal ball. The balls were first made an Italian maker named Aquilino Cosani in 1963. These balls were known as pezzi balls and could with strand punches. The first use of these balls was for the treatment of infants.
Even yoga practitioners nowadays make use of these balls in their daily yoga routines. The basic method on how this ball works include that the body tries to balance when using this ball thereby bringing more muscles into play increasing the workout and gaining fitness. These exercises are now incorporated by a vast majority of athletes in their exercise regimes.
